She offered the proposal well aware that it was doomed from the get-go.
I knew that Disney would in no way pay me that much," she told theTimes.
“That was my way to say ‘no’ and was a little bit of a flip-off to Disney.
I was a big reason why women were watching.”
ABC rejected her proposal, Richardson said, and thus the show ended after its eighth season in 1999.
Her decision led to conflict between her and Allen.
A representative for Allen declinedEntertainment Weeklys request for comment.
Executive producer Elliot Shoenman added, Without her, it just didnt make any sense.
