Manheim’s Lieutenant Dixon was replaced by Maura Tierney’s Jessica Brady.

Here’s how Thursday’s season 24 premiere filled it.

“Hey excuse me,” Riley cautions her, “this is an active crime scene.”

The woman flashes a badge, which makes them stand down.

I’m pretty sure this is ours."

“It is,” she replies to their befuddlement, before finally introducing herself.

“I’m your new Lieutenant, Jessica Brady.

Nice to meet you.”

It’sMaura Tierney, who was announced as anew series regularin July in the wake of Manheim’s exit.

“Wait, what happened to Dixon?”

“I don’t know,” Brady replies, curtly drawing their attention back to the crime scene.

“What’ve we got?”

She does not appear in the season 24 opener.

There are two other mentions of Dixon in in “Catch and Kill.”

“Look I know you were close to Dixon,” she says.

“I know its hard to start all over again with someone new and all of that stuff.

But really, thats your problem, not mine.

I dont need you to like me.

I dont need you to agree with me.

I need you to listen to me.”

All Riley says in reply, avoiding eye contact, is “copy that.”

The other mention is more enigmatic, and may point to a final future appearance from Manheim.

While walking down the street, Riley reads Shaw a text he gets from Dixon.

Didnt want to make a big to do about.

Tears and all that.

“I’ll take her up on that,” Shaw says.

“Talk about the old Irish goodbye though, right?

Ill take that up with her later but Im glad shes all right,” he says.
