Belushi died of an accidental drug overdose in 1982 at age 33.

While in rehab, Mulaney received a call from Michaels and they talked on the phone for an hour.

Mulaney continued, “And [Michaels] goes, ‘You know, John didn’t want to die.

You know, he didn’t plan to.

“He didn’t argue or anything, he just went, ‘John.

We both know how this movie ends.’

And that was it,” Mulaney said.

“I just kind of nodded and went back to my room and stayed.”
