I don’t have any say in any of that,” Cory Wharton says.

His injuries resulted in a scheduled right leg amputation in March.
“Everyone’s going to have stuff to say,” Cory says.
And that’s fine.
I know Nelson has made mistakes, and I think he’s owned that mistake.
“And I think that’s what it’s about.
And it’s not really my job to tell MTV what to play.
That’s kind of up to them.”
Long story short: I think Nelson realizes he made a mistake, and he learned from that mistake.
That’s what life is about.
We’ve all made mistakes, and it’s all about how you bounce back from that mistake."
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You were having such an incredible run this season.
CORY WHARTON:This was one of my best individual seasons.
But I got hit with a puzzle on my fourth elimination and here we are….
I didn’t have to backstab anybody, I was true to myself.
You’re now ranked in the top five male competitors for most elimination wins.
That’s not a bad stat to have on yourChallengeresume.
Being in top five for guy eliminations is cool.
After season 40, do you think you’re one of the best players who has never won?
Do you think you belong on theChallengeMount Rushmore of best players ever?
Where do you think you rank overall?
I can’t say I’m one of the best ever I think that’s a little too far.
I will say that I am the best to never win, which is great.
I get a participation trophy.
I know I’m not the best because I don’t have any wins yet.
What was it like competing against Derek in that elimination?
For it to be a puzzle and something physical I see what everybody says: My weakness is puzzles.
They’re not wrong.
Since you’re aware that puzzles are your weakness, do you work on that in the off-season?
I take a stab at.
I have all the apps on my phone.
So I just do the best that I can.
What was going through your mind in the moment?
I was a hot mess.
I don’t think it was that close.
Derek was solving the puzzle as he was running over.
Derek had a plan, he executed it, and he deserves to go to that final.
The biggest lesson that I learned is that I have a long way to go in puzzles.
I came up a little bit short so that doesn’t feel good, but I amrightthere, man.
The next one I do, I’m coming on a mission.
At what point did you realize you lost?
So just work until you hear that horn blow, because you never know what’s going to happen.
Your relationship with Josh brought a lot of drama throughout the season.
What’s your relationship with him like now?
And then you have a chance with the karma votes and you don’t go that way?
It’s on the rocks.
Meanwhile, you built a new alliance with Cara Maria.
Is that something we’ll see continue in future seasons?
It was cool that me and Cara got a lot closer this season.
I got to see a different side of Cara than I ever saw before.
So yeah, I’m a Cara stan now.
I would love to work with her in future seasons and wish her nothing but the best.
And make us partners at some point, like!
I would even dye my hair red.
I don’t care, I’ll do it all.
What else happened this season that wasn’t shown in the episodes?
You guys are going to want to watch the reunion.
A lot of the drama happens at the reunion that wasn’t shown during the season.
You get a lot more Laurel and hear where she’s coming from and her perspective on things.
We have some surprise guests come in and shake some things up.
The devil makes an appearance.
You’re going to want to tune in.
