“I did this one for Dad.”

On Friday, he will release a new song, “Count on Me,” honoring his dad.

Or did you avoid them?

But I didn’t really understand the full extent of what that meant and what his job really entailed.

I do remember from a young age being on sets likeFrailty, where he was directing and acting.

To be honest, he wasn’t really pushing it on my sister or me.

I think he knew we would find it when we found it.

AndTwisteris one of those classics where it plays almost every day somewhere on television.

It’s timeless that way.

How did you come to be a part ofTwisters?

Well, initially, my agents sent me an audition, and I had to read for a role.

And then, I heard from my team that they were offering a role.

That must have been exciting.

It’s an emotional thing.

What made you finally decide to do it?

And so it ended up feeling like the right thing to do, to be representative of Dad there.

What was it like actually filming?

It was crazy because they really simulate the environment.

It’s kind of wild.

They fly debris at you.

Did you always want to follow in your dad’s footsteps?

I never set out to be an actor.

I went to school to study broadcast journalism, and I wanted to be a reporter.

I wanted to do something that allowed me to travel and learn about different things.

And the cool thing is that acting allows you to do that as well.

Did your dad encourage your new passion?

And I said, “Dad, I really want to do this.”

Your dad must have been so proud.

He’s been gone for most of my career, unfortunately.

And so now I feel closest to him when I’m working on sets.

I mean, I feel him all the time, but especially then.
